Week 19/52. Every day I am amazed at the beauty of this amazing girl we created. Of course she is quite possibly the slowest ever at getting ready in the morning (which she came by quite honestly from me, sad to say), she still erupts into inexplicable tantrums on occasion, and if the way she can ignore us already at this age is any indication of her teenage years, things will be rough! Yet she is imaginative, incredibly empathetic, loves to read, is just as amazing a big sister as I knew she could be, and in my biased opinion, breathtakingly beautiful. For starters, check out those lashes! Thank you, Whitegiver genetics!!!
With Cecelia I find myself facing another lesson in letting go. Our only swing is a beautiful lightly curved, smooth, thick board crafted by my father, a hobbyist woodworker, which isn't exactly toddler-ready. Yet she comes over asking in her sweet (sometimes demanding, after all, she's a toddler) voice "Swing?" and how can I say no? I set her carefully in the middle of the swing and remind her to hold on tightly, don't let go, then pull it gently back......and let her glide through the air, a big grin on her face and the occasional giggle bursting out. My heart twinges a bit seeing her develope her independence, and then gives way to joy.
